The EUROCOM Sky X9W is heavy duty, high performance workstation-class laptop designed to replace desktop based workstation.     Are their any limitations if I load CentOS in Sky X9W

    We have done testing on the Eurocom Sky X9W loaded with the CentOS. CentOS loads without issue but we have found external port limitations. Our Configuration for testing was as follows...

    The results were as follows...

    USB3 - Works
    Full Audio - Works
    HDMI - Works
    Mini Display Port - Works
    RAID - Works
    G-Sync - Works
    Both 6th and 7th Gen Processors (i7-6700k/i7-7700k) - Works
    Thunderbolt 3 - Does NOT work
    Back-lite Keyboard - NO Controls for lights, but MOST hotkeys work
    Fingerprint Scanner - Does NOT Work

    Centos installation guide
    1. Download Centos 7 ISO: http://centos.westmancom.com/7/isos/x86_64/CentOS-7-x86_64-Everything-1611.iso
    2. Use Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/ to make a bootable USB install
    3. Plug in USB and turn system on, follow the directions on Screen.
    4. After installation is complete, download the updates.
    5. Installing the GPU Drivers(must be done via terminal):

    1. Download the driver: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/118290/en-us
    2. Update your system & build tools via terminal:

    1. yum update
    2. yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers gcc make
    3. uname –r
    4. rpm -q kernel-devel
    5. yum -y upgrade kernel kernel-devel

    3. Blacklist Nouveau (via terminal):
    1. echo 'blacklist nouveau' >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    2. dracut /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r) --force

    4. Disable the desktop and reboot system(via Terminal):
    1. systemctl disable gdm
    2. reboot

    5. Install the driver and turn the desktop back on via terminal:
    1. bash NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-352.30.run
    2. nvidia-xconfig
    3. systemctl enable gdm
    4. reboot

    Thunderbolt 3: not supported by CentOS
    Backlit Keyboard: backlit is not supported, keyboard is fully operational

    Does the Sky X series (X4; X7; X9) use iGPU?

    The Sky X9/X7/X4 series laptops are dGPU based only and don't use CPU based iGPU.
