How do I reset the CMOS Battery on my P870DM3

A technician while providing support may ask you to reset your CMOS Battery. Occasionally the CMOS Battery is not holding configuration settings or the settings generally maintained using power from the CMOS Battery are corrupted.
Fortunately resetting your CMOS Battery is very easy and no longer requires disassembling your notebook.
1) Hold down FN+D, and press the power button on
3) Continue to hold the FN+D buttons for 20 seconds
4) A blue box with information in it will appear on your screen, press enter and the system will reboot.
5) Press F2 and go to bios, set the date and time.
6) Then press F3 to load defaults, save and exit bios.
Your CMOS setting have now been re-set.

Are there any restriction when I load Linux/Ubuntu on my notebook??

All our system have been tested with Linux/Ubuntu and they do work properly. The only known restriction is you CANNOT use a Killer wireless card with Linux/Ubuntu.

Can I upgrade my system to use NVidia G-Sync?

Unfortunately No. In order for a notebook to use NVidia G-Sync it must come from the factory with G-Sync enabled. Part of the requirements are as following...
1) Supported GPU
2) Supported LCD Panel
3) NVidia GPU Driver R352.06 or above
4) Eurocom G-BIOS
What is G-Sync?
G-Sync is a proprietary adaptive sync technology created by NVidia to eliminate screen tearing and the need for software deterrents such as Vsync. G-Sync eliminates screen tearing by forcing a video display to adapt to the frame rate of the outputting device rather than the other way around, which could traditionally be refreshed halfway through the process of a frame being output by the device, resulting in two frames being shown at once. In order for a device to use G-Sync, it must contain a proprietary G-Sync module sold by NVidia.

Can I use an M.2 Drive as my primary hard drive or do I need a standard Hard drive installed?

If your notebook is equipped with an M.2 Hard Drive you can use it alone and as the primary drive in your notebook. There are no restriction on how it can be used.

How do I turn off the Adaptive Screen Brightness?

1.Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, then click on "Change plan settings" next to your active power plan.
2.Click on "Change advanced power settings."
3.Scroll down to Display, then under Enable adaptive brightness, switch it off for both the battery and plugged in modes.

Making a bootable USB Key:
First Download the HP Drive key Boot Utility
Second Download the win98 system files
Steps to Create Bootable USB Drive
1. Extract the Win98 system files to a directory
2. Install the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and run the program.
3. Select the Device and the File system from the drop down menus
4. Select Quick format
5. Select Create a Dos startup Disk
6. Select using dos system files located at: Select where you extracted the win98 system files to
7. Click start and follow directions
8. Extract the bios file to a folder called bios on the USB drive
To Flash the Bios
19.Make sure AC Adapter is plugged in.
20.Press F7 for the boot menu, boot from usb drive
21.Change directory to bios (CD bios)
22.Run step1.exe in DOS mode, and it will auto restart.
23.Press F7 for the boot menu and select usb drive
24.Change directory to bios (cd bios)
25.Run step2.Bat this process may take few minutes.
26.After flash is finished, please turn off the system.
27.Replug AC Adapter one times.

Enter in Advanced Options menu in Windows 8.x:
1. Press "Windows" + “R” keys to load the Run dialog box.
2. Type “shutdown /r /o” and press Enter.
3. Windows informs you that you are about to be signed off. Press “Close”.
4. When Windows restarts, press “Troubleshoot” .
5. In the “Troubleshoot options” screen, choose “Advanced options”.
6. In the “Advanced Options” window, choose “Startup Settings”.
7. In “Startup Settings” screen, click “Restart”.
8. After restart in “Startup Settings” windows, press the “F7” (or the “7”) key on your keyboard to “Disable driver signature enforcement”.
Your computer will restart again.
9. After the restart, proceed to install your unsigned driver. During the installation procedure, Windows will inform you that can’t verify the publisher of this driver software. At this point, ignore the warning message and choose “Install this driver software anyway” to complete the installation.

I'm getting Windows 10 Activation errors saying the licence has been used too many times

I’m getting a Windows 10 activation error saying that the license key has been used too many times. Any suggestions?
1. On the bottom of your system there will be a small colourful rectangular sticker that says “Windows 10 Pro for OEM software” I would suggest taking a picture of it with your phone or digital camera.
2. After you have a picture of it, from the standard windows desktop, Right click on the start button, now referred to as the flag, and select system.
3. On the left hand side you will see “activate windows”
4. Click on it and then select “change product key”
5. Type in the product key that you just took a picture of (be careful 8’s and B’s look very similar)
6. Then press next and you should activate without issue.

I have a system with a TPM 2.0 module running Windows 7. For some reason my TPM Module will not function. What is the problem?
In order for TPM 2.0 to function in Windows 7, your system must be in UEFI mode when you install Windows 7. If it is not, TPM 2.0 cannot function. Once you have put your system in UEFI mode and have installed Windows 7 please look at the following attachment to see how to activate your TPM 2.0 module.

My Backlight Brightness control in my Clevo P50WM has stopped responding...How do I fix this?

1) Open regedit and go to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class" key.
2) Find the sub-key corresponding to the NVIDIA graphics adapter. I did this by going to Find in the Edit menu and searching for "nvidia".
3) Add a new DWORD called "EnableBrightnessControl" and set the value to 1.
4) Reboot and the brightness keys should work again.

The RAM slots for this notebook are located in the following positions. Slot 1 and 2 are located under the Keyboard. To access them you will need to remove the keyboard and install the RAM stick. Slots 3 and 4 are under the bottom access hatch. You will need to remove the Bottom case to get access.

Will my new notebook with a 10 series video card function in Linux?

Not at this time. Currently there are no Linux video drives for the new NVidia 10 Series cards (GTX 1060, GTX 1070 and GTX 1080). This is just a temporary problem as drivers will eventually come.
