Reviewed on 4/26/06 Release date: 4/17/06 While it's not the first laptop we've heard of that features a 19-inch display and two graphics cards running in a scalable link interface, the Eurocom M590K Emperor is the first such laptop we've laid hands on. And we like both marquee features very much: the laptop offers one of the most impressive gaming experiences money can buy. That said, as with most products equipped with new technologies, the M590K Emperor is particularly expensive (our loaded configuration cost $5,430)--even for a high-end gaming laptop--and especially in light of the fact that you can get almost as many frames per second from far less expensive systems, though only a few other niche vendors offer 19-inch models at this time (original equipment manufacturer Clevo is said to have built a similar model for Sager and SavRow). We recommend the M590K Emperor only to deadly serious, mobile gamers who are willing to spend top dollar for a system that's more portable than any desktop PC gaming rig.

Eurocom offers SLI notebook for gamers

Eurocom Corporation of Ottawa, a maker of desktop replacement notebooks, has launched a notebook based on nVidia SLI high-definition graphics for gamers. The nVidia SLI technology provides up to twice the performance of a single notebook GPU resulting in an increase in graphics performance.

SLI is Scan Line Interleave, a configuration of the nVidia GeForce Go 7800 GTX graphics processing units made for games and other graphics-intensive applications. Combining two nVidia SLI-certified GeForce Go 7800 GTX -based graphics cards in a single system doubles graphics performance. SLI-certified GPUs feature dedicated, built-in SLI hardware and take advantage of the additional bandwidth of the PCI Express bus architecture. Connected by the SLI connector, each nVidia GPU has a maximized connection pathway, and can leverage the second card for reaching top-speed performances. Unlike previous dual-card solutions, NVIDIA SLI can output in both digital and analogue formats for the highest image quality.

The first notebook to feature two NVIDIA GeForce Go7800GTX notebook graphics processing unit equipped with 256MB of superfast GDDR3, is the Eurocom M590K Emperor with a 19-inch screen with a 1680-by-1050 pixel resolution display.
