Jun 08, 2004 Eurocom supports Intel® Pentium® M Dothan processor in their Centrino-based line of notebooks Contact: OTTAWA, CANADA - Eurocom Corporation announced on June 8, 2004 that it now supports Intel® Pentium® M (Dothan) processor in all of their notebook models based on the Intel® CentrinoTM mobile technology such as the Milano series (M360C, M375C, M375E, M470E) and the Convertible T210C notebook. The Intel® Pentium® M processor (Dothan) is based on 90-nanometer technology very much like the Prescott processor, but with 2MB cache. The current Pentium M is based on 130nm like Northwood processor with 1MB cache. Dothan, which pairs higher clock speed with performance enhancements such as extra Level 2 cache, for a total of 2MB, will offer performance increases of between 10 percent and 17 percent compared with previous Pentium M chips. Intel has adapted the chip so that it can be produced using the company's latest 90-nanometer manufacturing process. The newer process has allowed Intel to add the extra cache but hold the line on power consumption. A notebook based on Dothan has about the same battery life, an important consideration for notebook owners who spend time traveling. Eurocom Corporation plans to offer the Pentium M Dothan processor in their regular and high-end Centrino-based notebook models. The new models scheduled to ship in late summer, will offer both a 15.4-inch and 17-inch WUXGA screen with a high resolution of 1920 x 1200 and will come with a Pentium M 735 at 1.7 GHz, Pentium M 745 at 1.8 GHz and Pentium M 755 at .0 GHz, the company president, Mark Bialic, said. The EUROCOM new Dothan based notebooks such as M470E model with 17-inch WUXGA and M375E with 15.4-inch WUXGA display powered by ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 offering 128 MB of DDR video are designed for high-end gaming and professional markets demanding support for high-end graphics applications and fast computing. Eurocom strategy is to combine Intel Dothan chip technology with high-end video chipsets to position their Centrino performance systems on the high-end graphics and professional markets such as gaming or engineering.
